Born in Unaizah, central Saudi Arabia, a city historically known as the “Paris of Najd,” Saleh al-Shebel began his career at Alinma Bank while completing his degree in accounting. He worked in banking relations and regulatory coordination, including representing the bank at the Saudi Central Bank.
He later moved to Melbourne, Australia, to continue his studies at La Trobe University, where he completed a Master of Marketing Management. His graduate studies expanded his earlier background in accounting and finance into marketing, strategy, management, international business, and business research. During his time at La Trobe, he was elected to the Executive Committee of the La Trobe University International Students Association, where he contributed to the planning and organisation of initiatives supporting students and enriching their university experience.
After returning to Saudi Arabia, he progressed into managerial and advisory roles across listed and regulated companies. He served as Board Secretary and Governance & Compliance Manager at a listed technology company, and later as Board Affairs Manager at Tawuniya, one of Saudi Arabia’s largest listed insurers. His advisory work has included market research, strategy, institutional development, capital-market readiness, and collaboration on IPO preparations with Capital Market Institutions authorised by the Capital Market Authority.
His current academic interests bring together this background in marketing, business, finance, and regional development. Growing up in an agricultural region has shaped his interest in how farms and local agricultural economies can create greater value through agritourism, farm diversification, territorial marketing, local food products, and farm-to-table experiences.
